How is Saturday School going to help improve the scores in the Writing TAKS test for the fourth graders?
The target population is the fourth graders of Sam Houston Elementary.
The sample population is the Fourth grade students in the campus. Saturday school is a new practice in our school, and we want to measure and document the outcomes of it. The rationale behind this is that we can implement in other grade levels and for other subjects.
The way in which I am conducting my research will begin collection information on the results from last year’s tests for the same grade level and the same assessment. Then I am collecting results from the mock tests that were taken for this year’s students. Finally, once the results come from the State, I will put the information together, compare and analyze it. The analysis team will consist of the fourth grade teacher and some other staff members that played a key role in the process (principal, assistant principal, instructional coach, reading coach).
What kind of instruction are you guys offering during Saturday School? Is it just a continuation and tutoring? Or are new teaching techniques going to be used? I've always wondered if Saturday School was effective. Looking forward to the end result and seeing your data!
ReplyDeleteRoberto, as a fourth grade teacher, I am very interested in your AR plan results. A couple of recommendations, you have all the key elements, but if you use the tool 7.1 template or SIP/PIP template, it will help fill in all the gaps. For example, specific tests, dates, as well as monitoring the AR plan success. Great job and good luck!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for following!
ReplyDeleteSylvia, thanks for the recommendations, I will work on my template today, you know getting things done in the week sometimes gets hard, especially with a hectic week, as this past week was.
Amy, we offer 'fun' instruction. We want students to 'spice-up' their compositions. Teachers prepare instruction along with games to keep students engaged.
