Hi Rosy!
I will follow your blog, just give me sometime to read over it. Please follow mine :) too.
Thanks for the App tip, I will get it and ask you if I have any questions regarding that. Great way to optimize our time!!!

Vertiginous course
This has been a very vertiginous course. I have learned that administrative inquiry or action research is a systematic process in which an individual studies his or her own actions, roles, activities and performance with the objective to change or improve.
As I wrote before Action Research is closely tied to continuous improvement as allows the administrator to take action on a specific issue. Elliot (1988) describes action research as a continual set of spirals consisting of reflection and action.
I think that is the highlight of the course for me. I am way more engage in self-reflection not only for my project but also for any activity in and outside school.

Tool 8.1 CARE Model: Planning Tool
Identify Concerns that must change (look to the future)
(Assign points to concerns from 1 to 3 in the order of the most important issues to consider.)
1. Increase student achievement in grades 3rd to 5th
2. Increase test scores in subgroup populations
3. Meet AYP (Special Ed representation)
Identify Affirmations that must be sustained (look to the present)
(Assign points to affirmations from 1 to 3 in the order of the most important issues to consider.)
1. Rigorous instruction
2. Teacher commitment
3. Parental involvement
SMART Recommendations that must be implemented:
(Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Timely)
(Assign points to recommendations from 1 to 3 in the order of the most important recommendations to implement.)
1. Student will master TAKS blitzes with a minimum of 80% every Friday during the second semester
2. Students will master mid spring mock TAKS release test with a minimum of 80%
3. Teachers will re-evaluate their classroom SMART goals every six weeks
EVALUATE – Specifically and Often
(Identify the best ways to evaluate the implemented recommendations.)
1. AEIS (Academic Excellence Indicator System) Report
2. EduSoft Performance Band Report
3. Weekly monitoring

Action Research Plan Updates
I just posted the link for my template. You will see it below this post.
After a productive Saturday meeting with my principal, we made some changes to my Action Research project.
First we decided to include all TAKS grade levels in our campus: 3rd, 4th and 5th. Then, we included a correlation to the TAKS blitzes and incorporated other reports such as EduSoft and AEIS.
Finally, we extended the dates and we will analyze trends during the summer.
I realized that this quest will take part of my summer. It will be worthy!

My Action Research about Saturday School
How is Saturday School going to help improve the scores in the Writing TAKS test for the fourth graders?
The target population is the fourth graders of Sam Houston Elementary.
The sample population is the Fourth grade students in the campus. Saturday school is a new practice in our school, and we want to measure and document the outcomes of it. The rationale behind this is that we can implement in other grade levels and for other subjects.
The way in which I am conducting my research will begin collection information on the results from last year’s tests for the same grade level and the same assessment. Then I am collecting results from the mock tests that were taken for this year’s students. Finally, once the results come from the State, I will put the information together, compare and analyze it. The analysis team will consist of the fourth grade teacher and some other staff members that played a key role in the process (principal, assistant principal, instructional coach, reading coach).

What I am taking from Week 2
Students benefit from role models. We the teachers, in our role as students, can as well benefit from role models. After watching the three videos from Week 2 assignments, I feel encouraged by these people, as all of them have characteristics of the administrator I want to become.
From Johnny Briseno I take that no decisions are to be made without looking at the data, that you do not have to reinvent the wheel, and that a few minutes of research could save you time or even make you solve a problem. Dr. Chargois made a good point when he says that we are accountable for ALL the students, and those days in which teachers would say “oh, I just touched one kid” are gone; teachers are out there to make all students success. Finally, Dr. Lewis said a key word in research: practical. Research has to be practical to the environment.
